2. Cách học từ vựng hiệu quả

2.1. Áp dụng đúng quy tắc học từ vựng

Một cách học từ vựng cơ bản mà đa số ai cũng áp dụng để học là tìm từ mới – tra nghĩa – xác định dạng từ vựng – phát âm – lặp lại – tìm ví dụ thực tế của từ vựng đó – áp dụng. Đây là một phương pháp đơn giản nhất và dễ thực hiện nhất. 

Theo nguyên tắc này, việc áp dụng số từ vựng mới vào quá trình giao tiếp sẽ giúp bạn nhớ từ vựng lâu hơn và biết cách dùng trong các tình huống thực tế hàng ngày. Tuy nhiên, khi áp dụng phương pháp này, bạn phải đủ kiên nhẫn và sắp xếp quỹ thời gian học sao cho phù hợp thì mới đem lại hiệu quả khi áp dụng.

2.2. Học từ vựng trong danh sách từ vựng học thuật

Với phương pháp này, đầu tiên bạn phải liệt kê ra những từ vựng xuất hiện thường xuyên trong IELTS. Sau khi liệt kê xong, bạn chỉ cần tập trung học những từ vựng này một cách thuần thuật nhất, về nghĩa, cách sử dụng cũng như từ đồng nghĩa, trái nghĩa của nó.

Hãy tập trung vào những từ vựng học thuật mà bạn dùng thường xuyên nhất, các từ vựng thường gặp trong các kỳ thi IELTS, không nhất thiết phải học thuộc các từ vựng khó hiểu mà bạn ít gặp. Đây là một phương pháp hiệu quả cho những ai có trí nhớ không tốt nhưng đang có dự định thi IELTS.

2.3. Học từ vựng IELTS một cách thụ động

Phương pháp này có vẻ hơi lạ lẫm, thông thường thì các giáo viên luôn khuyến khích bạn phải càng năng động càng tốt. Vấn đề là như thế này, bạn học từ vựng IELTS bằng cách sử dụng trong việc đọc, viết, nói và nghe. Bằng việc chú tâm vào các kỹ năng thụ động (đọc và nghe), bạn có thể giúp bản thân học một khối lượng từ vựng cực lớn và có thể nhiều hơn 5 từ một ngày.

2.4. Kết hợp học cùng bạn bè

Nếu bạn có một nhóm bạn đang có mục tiêu học từ vựng IELTS thì hãy tận dụng điều này như một phương pháp học hiệu quả. Những tưởng bạn bè sẽ làm bạn xao lãng trong việc học. Thực tế, học cùng với bạn bè sẽ giúp bạn học hiệu quả hơn, đặc biệt trong những lĩnh vực đòi hỏi sự phản xạ và nhạy bén trong giao tiếp như học tiếng Anh.

Học với bạn bè rất cần thiết khi bạn thực hành tiếng Anh, nhất là trong các bài tập tình huống, thực hành hội thoại. Khi học cùng bạn bè, bạn sẽ trao đổi về bài học một cách thoải mái hơn so với người lạ. Hơn nữa, cách này cũng giúp bạn có thể ứng dụng linh hoạt từ vựng vào các tình huống và thực hiện tốt bài thi trong kỳ thi IELTS.

2.5. Dành thời gian thật nhiều để học từ vựng IELTS

Thời gian ở đây không chỉ là lúc bạn ngồi vào bàn học mà là mọi lúc mọi nơi, bao gồm cả việc ôn tập lại từ vựng. Việc học từ vựng tiếng Anh không phải chỉ ngày một ngày hai, vì thế bạn không nên ép buộc bản thân cố nhồi nhét quá nhiều từ vựng cùng lúc trong khoảng thời gian ngắn. Cách học này hoàn toàn không có tác dụng.

Thay vào đó, hãy học một cách đều đặn, thường xuyên, mỗi ngày chỉ cần học 5 từ mới và ngày nào cũng học. Vốn từ vựng IELTS của bạn sẽ cải thiện rõ rệt, bạn sẽ cảm thấy thoải mái, phấn chấn hơn hẳn. Sau 1 – 2 ngày bạn cần ôn lại các từ đã học trước đó để nhớ lâu hơn.
